The next monthly meeting of the Comox Valley Writers Society is on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in the library at Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School. (New location!)
Guest speaker will be Harold Macy, local author. He will be speaking about his recent success in finding two publishers – one for his historical novel and one for his short story collection.
For over forty years Harold has lived in Merville where he says he is surrounded by “old hippies, fundamentalist Christians, faded cowgirls, broken old loggers, gimpy rednecks and urban refugees with their new plaid shirts and attitudes – all good sources of character and story”. Harold’s work has appeared in a number of literary magazines and he has twice received honorable mention in the Island Short Fiction Contest. He won the 2013 North Island College three-hour Fiction Contest.
Everyone is welcome to come meet this colourful author and hear some of his stories. Meeting begins at 7 p.m.
