The next monthly meeting of the Comox Valley Writers Society is on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the library at Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School.
Guest Speaker: Terry Jordan, Haig-Brown Writer-in-Residence will be our guest speaker. Terry is an award winning fiction writer, musician, essayist and dramatist. His book of stories It’s a Hard Cow won a Saskatchewan Book Award and his novel, Beneath That Starry Place was published internationally and was nominated for multiple awards. Terry taught Creative Writing at Concordia University and has facilitated the Fiction Workshop at Sage Hill Writing Experience. He has served as W-I-R at the public libraries of Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Regina, and at Okanagan College. He currently resides in Saskatoon. His most recent book is Been in the Storm Too Long.
Terry Jordan is accepting manuscripts for consultation. Max 10-12 pages for initial submission in Fiction, Memoir, Creative Non-Fiction, Song Lyrics and Scripts (both playwriting and screenplays). Please send to: [email protected]

December Writing Challenge: Write a one-page story about “The Truth Within the Lie”, or any story about a lie, holiday themed if the writer feels joyfully and triumphantly compelled to do so. Five-minute max, please, so we can hear as many readers as possible.
December 20th is also our Christmas gathering! Everyone brings a savoury or sweet to share. There is also a book exchange this meeting. If you care to downsize your bulging bookcase, or bookcases, bring one or two (unwrapped) for your fellow writers and readers.
