General Meeting – June 15, 2023

The Comox Valley Writers Society’s 2023 Annual General Meeting will be held on June 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Stan Hagen Theatre, North Island College campus.

At 7 p.m., following the AGM, BC author Bill Arnott will read and show slides from his best-selling book, A Season on Vancouver Island. His book will be available for purchase and signing before and after the presentation, thanks to Laughing Oyster Books.

It promises to be a fabulous evening! See you there!

General Meeting – May 18, 2023

May 18 – Thursday at 7 pm – Bayside Café, #5 – 2760 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay

We are excited to announce our guest speaker for the evening is Joy Gugeler, PhD, from Vancouver Island University. Joy will speak to us about “The pros and cons of traditional versus self-publishing—which one is right for you.” Please bring your questions to this informative presentation.

The evening will wrap up with an Open Mic. Bring your poetry or prose and sign up at the door to read for about five minutes.

Guest speaker is Sarah Corsie from Caitlin Press.

Sarah will speak about “The changing landscape in publishing. Where do we go from here?” Bring your curiosity and your questions.

Sarah Corsie is the production manager at Caitlin Press and Dagger Editions. Prior to joining the Caitlin Press team in 2018, she worked as the marketing coordinator at Harbour Publishing and Douglas & McIntyre.

Originally from Nanaimo, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Vancouver Island University and a Master of Publishing Degree from SFU. She lives in the qathet district, (formerly Powell River Regional District), on the Sunshine Coast.

The evening will wrap up with an Open Mic. Bring your poetry or prose and sign up at the door to read for about five minutes.
