We will meet virtually via Zoom. The invitation will be emailed to the membership prior to Thursday.
See you there!
The Comox Valley Writers Society meets virtually this Thursday, February 18, 2021 after a break last month due to the busy North Island Writers Conference in January.
Attendance by Zoom invite only.
Just a reminder there is no CVWS General Meeting on January 21st or any Reading Night this month. Meetings and Readings will begin again in February after the North Island Writers Conference has wrapped up.
ZOOM DECEMBER GENERAL MEETING – Thursday, December 17, 2020
Meeting starts at 7 pm.
In the past we traditionally had a writing challenge for our December meetings as well as holiday treats and a book exchange. This year we can’t share treats, but we can share our stories. Wear holiday clothes and enjoy your own goodies and libation of choice as we share our stories via Zoom.
THE CHALLENGE: The most popular Christmas story of all time (next to the biblical one) is Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” wherein Scrooge is visited by his old deceased partner Marley. The most endearing movie and a holiday tradition for many of us is “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a film, by the way, many found too socialistic at the time but now watched by many, wherein a visit by the angel, Clarence, gave Jimmy Stewart’s character a reason for living. An angel and a ghost changed lives.
Theme: How did an apparition bring about a change
Your challenge is to write a 500 word (or so) story of an apparition which/who brings about change in someone or something. Reading time not to exceed 5 minutes (or so).
The readings will be preceded by a brief run-through of a few business items and any information tidbits to be shared.
Looking forward to hearing your stories.
Next CVWS General Meeting will be held via Zoom on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 7 p.m.
